Studies on Rhizoctonia solani Kuhn (Pellicularia filamentosa (Pat.) Rogers). IV. The activity of antagonists to Rhizoctonia solanu Kuhn

Of 41 antagonistic soil fungi 3 were tested against R. solani on agar media. Trichoderma showed the most antagonism and Coniothecium the least, with Pachybasium intermediate. The activity was weaker on media containing less nutrients, and was lost by passage through a soil column. Growth of C. solani in sterilized soil was inhibited by the antagonists, but only a str. of T. was effective in unsterile soil.
