The nitrate contents, expressed as KNO3 in dry matter, of flint maize, Sudan grass, teosinte (Euchlaena mexicana Schrad.), Bahia grass (Paspalum notatum Flugge), Italian ryegrass and oats, grown under high or low N fertilization, were estimated. All forage samples were cut at intervals of 6 to 7 days while the plants were advancing from vegetative to milk or dough stage. Nitrate content increased with higher N fertilization.
