The effect of N at 0-600 kg/ha applied during early growth on the chemical composition and nutritive value of Rhodes grass hay and silage was investigated using sheep. The 1st cut was taken at the pre-booting stage (23 July) and wilted in the field for 3 days; the 2nd cut was taken at early heading (16 Sept.), and 80 kg of this grass was chopped to 2- to 3-cm lengths and ensiled in a laboratory silo.
