In a study of the relationship between degree of fermentation and nutritive value of Italian ryegrass silage, silages of (a) excellent, (b) good, (c) satisfactory, (d) moderate and (e) inferior quality were made in experimental silos (56 x 88 cm2). Degree of fermentation was estimated by measuring organic-acid, total-N and NH3-N contents and pH of each silage and digestibility trials were carried out with goats.
