The soil treatments were: loose, medium and compact. No difference in root distribution of Rhodes grass was found within the 0-30 cm horizon in the 3 treatments. As soil density increased, so the DM of Rhodes grass increased. Available soil moisture was greater in the compact soil than in the loose soil in the top 15 cm.
