Abstract
Leaf K, Ca and Mg contents of Rails and Jonathan trees grown under the same conditions were compared during 1960-1961, in order to investigate the possible relationships between varietal susceptibility to Mg deficiency and varietal differences in leaf composition. Leaves from Jonathan had a significantly lower K content and K/Mg and K/Ca ratios, but a significantly higher Ca content, than leaves from Rails. There was no significant difference in Mg content between the varieties.
