Studies on pachytene and somatic chromosomes of Phaseolus aureus

Studies on pachytene and somatic chromosomes of Phaseolus aureus

Nucleus. Calcutta, 8: 7-16

It is shown that the length of chromosomes at pachytene is very variable. The eleven pairs of somatic chromosomes fall into six categories, A and B with one pair of chromosomes each (both having secondary constrictions), C (3 pairs) D (1), E (2 pairs) and F (3 pairs). The categories are based on length of chromosome and position of centromere.
