& F. XXVII and XXVIII. P added to the soil was strongly fixed (70-100% of the added P), especially in soils from experimental plots poor in P. K fixation was particularly important in soils from plots to which K fertilizers had been applied. Extractions with ammonium acetate at pH 4.8 removed mainly exchangeable K.
