Abstract
For parts 3 and 4 see Abst. 1524, Vol. 39. 5. In balance experiments 3 Japanese Black cows were given maintenance requirement or 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 2.7 or 2.8 times that amount in different periods. Requirement of metabolisable energy (ME) for maintenance was 95.4 kcal per kg metabolic weight (W0.75) per day (see Abst. 3629, Vol. 38) and was supplied by 1.5 kg hay and 2.6 kg concentrate. All rations had the same ratio of hay to concentrate.
