Studies on the local adaptation of sugar beet varieties, especially new varieties bred by a branch of the Japan Sugar Beet Institute

Studies on the local adaptation of sugar beet varieties, especially new varieties bred by a branch of the Japan Sugar Beet Institute

Japanese Journal of Breeding 21(4): 219-226; 1045-6

5 Japanese and 4 introduced sugar-beet were evaluated at 2 locations in the warmer regions of Japan and at 3 locations in Hokkaido in 1964-9. Cultivar whose roots developed early had high sugar yields in the warmer regions and N. Hokkaido, but were low-yielding in W. Hokkaido, whereas yields of with late root development were low in warm regions and in N. Hokkaido.
