In solution cultures with P supplied at 2 ppm and 10 ppm, representing lower and upper limits in the normal range, P absorbed during tillering was most efficiently utilized for grain production and was adequate for optimal grain yield. P absorbed beyond this period tends to accumulate in the grain straw and root with no advantage to grain yield.
