As a result of drying, after the addition of glucose and (NH4)2SO4 to soil, N was immobilized rapidly at first, reaching a maximum after 1/2-1 week; rapid release of immobilized N then occurred, but after four weeks mineralization was slow. Much mineralized N however was converted into a decomposable form after air-drying.
