Several wheat x rye hybrids and several 56-chromosome amphidiploids, all of which were obtained at Sadovo from crosses of Triticum aestivum '14', '301', 'Akerman 17' and 'Bezostaja 1' with the rye variety S2, were infected in laboratory and field with races 11, 14, 17, 21 and 133 of Puccinia graminis, races 13, 21, 58, 77 and 222 of P. recondita, races 3, 12, 18, 20 and 26 of Erysiphe graminis and races 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10 of Ustilago tritici.
