Study of the microflora from the female genital tract of buffaloes

Study of the microflora from the female genital tract of buffaloes

Indian Veterinary Journal 43(12): 1043-1051

Bacteriological examination of 1, 109 samples of tissues and organs from the female genital tract of 326 living or slaughtered buffaloes yielded two strains of Brucella spp. indistinguishable from Br. melitensis, and three strains of Vibrio fetus. No isolations of PPLO were made. Two of 18 pooled samples caused more than 50% mortality of chick embryos after 3 blind passages.
