Feeding groundnut cake alone, or with bonemeal, to cows on veld grazing increased ovarian activity, caused an earlier resumption of post-partum reproductive cycling, and increased the av. number of calves born per cow over 6 breeding seasons (74.5% calving rate when groundnut cake was fed with and without bonemeal v 59.2 for controls).
