Abstract
Notes are given on the cultivation of teosinte in India. It yields 15-70 t fresh herbage/ac depending on soil fertility, irrigation and number of cuts taken. Teosinte herbage harvested 78 days after sowing contained (DM basis) 12% CP, 2.3% ether extract, 19.6% CF, 55.3% NFE, 74.9% carbohydrates, 0.65% Ca, 0.28% P and 10.8% ash.
