The association among some quantitative characters In a cross between two varieties of Upland cotton

Parents and 69 F3 lines from the cross Cleveland Short Sympodia x AHA 6-1-4 were evaluated for several fibre characters. The phenotypic correlation coefficient between fibre strength and fibre elongation was -0.60 whereas the genotypic correlation coefficient between these characters was -0.84, indicating that the association was due to genetic causes.
