Abstract
A study was made of the content of nucleic acids, proteins and phosphorus compounds in the reproductive organs of lines with various combining abilities and of the yields of hybrids obtained from crosses of these lines. It is concluded that the absolute content of any of these substances in the reproductive organs of the parental plants was unrelated to heterosis.
