Investigations regarding the influence of partial versus complete milking of freshly calved cows upon the occurrence of parturient paresis are reported. Thirty-eight cows were milked completely twice a day after parturition, while from 32 cows nothing but what the calf needed was milked. The frequency of parturient paresis was unchanged no matter whether the cows were partially or completely milked after parturition.
