Maternal and offspring body weight and liver xanthine oxidase activities were measured during lactation in mice, the mothers being fed diets containing 10-50% casein. Body weights and xanthine oxidase activities were highest in mice fed 30 and 40% casein followed by 20, 50 and 10% protein diets.
