The effect of rejuvenation pruning on the growth capacity of the apricot variety Rakovskeho 90 apricot seedling rootstock

On 11-year-old bush apricot trees grown in a fertile soil and spaced 6 x 6 m. the effects were tested of cutting back the main branches by 20 % of their length in the winter, in June or in August and cutting back the main branches in the winter by 20 % or 40 % supplemented by shortening annual shoots by 1/2-1/3 of their length. The growth of new shoots in the spring was much more vigourous on trees which were rejuvenated during the winter.
