The effect of the growth retardant Alar on the shoot growth of two-year-old apple trees

The effect of the growth retardant Alar on the shoot growth of two-year-old apple trees

Schweiz. Z. Obst- u. Weinb 107: 307-13

During the growing season the average increase in shoot length resulting from a temperature rise of 1 degrees C. was 0. 93 mm. for untreated trees, 0.65 mm. for those treated at the end of May and 0. 34 mm. for those treated in mid-June with 0.2% Alar. The retarding effect was greatest at the time of fastest growth. The percentage retardation was independent of air temperature.
