The fatty acids of tall oil and their ethyl and glyceryl esters as fodder ingredients. 3. The ethyl esters in the feeding of hens

Acta Agric. scand 15: 16-24

For part 2 see Abst. 1399, Vol. 34. 3. Ethyl esters of the fatty acids of tall oil were given as 5 or 10% in dry laying mashes with crude protein 20 and ether extract 3% and supplemented with vitamins and minerals. White Leghorn hens were given the diets without or with added ethyl esters to appetite and 60 g whole grain daily in 3 trials. The grain was always completely eaten. In 2 trials extra ethyl esters reduced intake of mash, more with the larger amount.
