Experiments with 7 kalanchoe varieties showed that the duration of the juvenile phase differed. The plants remained vegetative if they were given short days after germination and then transferred to long days at the correct time. This change should take place not later than the appearance of the 3rd and 4th leaf pairs with Tom Thumb, Vulkan and Alfred Graser, the 7-8th leaf pairs with Morgensonne and the 9-10th leaf pairs with Ramona, Goldrand and Rotglut.
