The treatments involved all combinations of cutting within 1 or 3 inches of ground level, and cutting six times (for grazing) or four times (for silage) in a year, and applying water to restore field capacity once in the season or when soil-moisture tension at 1 ft depth reached 10 or 50 cm Hg.
