The influence of the combined effects of gamma radiation and space-flight factors on barley seeds in different physiological states



Experimental work on the influence of ionizing radiations on the organism, Nauka. Moskva, 3-29



Air-dried dormant grains of the barley Zimujuscij moskovskij, produced by conversion of the spring barley Pallidum 32, were irradiated with 10 and 15 kr. and were included, together with unirradiated controls in a cosmic flight. This increased the germination rate in both lots of grains, whereas in grains that had been kept for 14 months in a state of enforced dormancy, germination was not affected; nor was it affected by irradiation alone.
