The inheritance of resistance of the Zenith type varieties of rice to the blast fungus

This study revealed that the variety Zenith and its derivative, Fu67, carry the dominant genes Pi-a and Pi-z for resistance to the seven strains of Piricularia oryzae studied. The gene Pi-z is reported for the first time and is on a locus independent of or distant from the genes Pi-a, Pi-k and Pi-ta.
