The inheritance of the chemical composition of grain by interspecific wheat hybrids in the first and second generations

Analyses of 20 interspecific F1 hybrids show that in the majority the protein content was higher than that of either parent. In most cases protein and gluten contents were correlated but in reciprocal crosse's of Tviticum turgidum var. plinianum x T. carthlicum var. fuliginosum, the protein was higher and the gluten lower than that of the parents. Few differences between reciprocal crosses were observed apart from those connected with differences in grain size.
