The products of lactoperoxidase-catalysed oxidation of SCN by H2O2 were SO4, CO2 and NH3, the intermediate products being OCN, SO3 and a compound showing increased extinction at 235nm. ('235 compound')-NADH2 was oxidized by SO3 in the presence of lactoperoxidase and Mn++, and by '235 compound' in the presence of the NADH2-oxidizing enzyme found in lactoperoxidase-resistant streptococci (preceding abstract).
