The meat characters of Simmentals and their crosses with bulls of beef breeds

At the State Farm Nacalo in Voronezh Province, data were obtained from 4 groups (each of 6 and 6) 1 group being of Simmentals and the other 3 of their crosses with Charolais, Aberdeen-Angus and Hereford resp. At 18 mths. of age the Charolais crossbreds had the greatest body weight, most efficient food conversion for growth, the highest percentage of meat and least bone in the carcass. The Simmentals came 2nd for body weight and food conversion, but had least meat and most bone in the carcass.
