Since the effectiveness of the so-called helio-thermal trap for collecting Tabanids in the field in Canada was found to be modified by certain visual features of its construction and it can moreover be modified to make use of olfactory and sonic stimuli as well as visual stimuli in any combination, it has been renamed the Manitoba fly trap.
