The relation between the strength of the skeleton and the meat yield of the various cuts in Improved White pigs of the meat-lard type

The relation between the strength of the skeleton and the meat yield of the various cuts in Improved White pigs of the meat-lard type

Zivocisna Vyroba. 9: 21-28

In 60 Czechoslovak Improved White pigs, skeletal strength was based on cannon-bone circumference and the amount of meat on the legs. Cannon-bone circumference of the forelegs was positively correlated with meat yield from the carcass, and negatively correlated with the amount of fat. The amount of meat on the legs was a more reliable indication of meat yield than cannon-bone circumference.
