Budding and grafting 2 sour cherry cvs onto P. cerasus seedlings gave 34.2 and 46.4% of maiden trees, respectively, compared with averages of 46 and 93.8% on P. mahaleb and P. avium, respectively. Three years after planting in the orchard 37.5, 11.1 and 8.3% of trees on P. cerasus, P. avium and P. mahaleb, respectively, had died.
