Warp in studs from small-diameter Loblolly Pine

Warp in studs from small-diameter Loblolly Pine

Sth. Lumberm, 216: 2687, 27-8, 30

With the increasing production of 2X4-in. studs 8 ft. long from small-diameter logs, warp has become common. A sawmill study on straight logs is reported and observations on crook at 2-3 points along the studs are tabulated. Crook and bow were equally prevalent and showed maximum incidence at 4 ft. from the butt, decreasing in upper logs.
