Water consumption and biological coefficient of furrow and sprinkler irrigated cotton

Furrow and sprinkler irrigation were compared in a 3-year field experiment on a leached chernozem-smolnitza soil. The soil moisture was maintained between 60 and 75% of field capacity to 40 or 70cm depth and NPK fertilizers were applied. The mean daily water use varied from 9-16 to 35-53 m3/ha and the total water use with irrigation and fertilizers was 4210-4740 m3/ha depending on the weather.
