This study showed that the optimum sowing rate of Lolium multiflorum and Vicia villosa was 22.5 and 45 kg/hm2 during autumn and winter in Yunnan, China. Sowing below these rates would reduce yields. There were no interactions between sowing rate and sowing date in either forage crops. Delaying the sowing date significantly reduced the yield of both forages but the condition was more serious for L. multiflorum.
