The optimum sowing time, method of sowing, and sowing rate for niger (G. abyssinica IGP-76) were studied in Ratnagiri, Maharashtra, India. Seed (3.41 quintal ha-1) and stalk (18.80 quintal ha-1) yields were higher with sowing on 26 meteorological week or MW (from 25 June to 1 July) than with sowing in 24 (11-17 June) or 28 (19-15 July) standard meteorological week (SMW).
