Evaluation of quantitative and qualitative characteristics of six Iranian and foreign cherry cultivars and relationship of this characteristics with rate of fruit cracking

Evaluation of quantitative and qualitative characteristics of six Iranian and foreign cherry cultivars and relationship of this characteristics with rate of fruit cracking

Journal of Agricultural Sciences Islamic Azad University 11(2): 131-142

Among the horticultural crops in Iran, cherry, with 12% of the total world yield, was allocated a special rank. One of the problems that leads to unprofitability of cherry orchards is fruit cracking. This phenomenon happens due to direct water absorption. The rate of water absorption is related to fruit properties and characteristics. Fruit characteristics such as fruit size, firmness of fruit texture, total soluble solids and cuticular properties are effected in this disorder.
