Genetic improvement of litter size in pigs selected for total number born or number born alive

Genetic improvement of litter size in pigs selected for total number born or number born alive

Japanese Journal of Swine Science 43(1): 16-19

A table compares the genetic parameters (additive genetic variance, environmental variance and heritability) of the total number of piglets born (TNB) and number of piglets born alive (NBA) used in the family selection index, and another table lists the accuracy of selection and expected genetic gain for TNB and NBA selected by TNB or NBA.
