This paper describes the chemical analysis of waxy maize starch (amylose and amylopectin) using hybrids from several maize inbreds carrying single recessive (wx1, o2, o5, O9, O11 and sh4) or double recessive (wx1, sh4: wx1 o2) genes. Results showed that amylose contained in the genotypes had some degree of branching. The amylopectin showed a similar degree of branching and is moderately branched. The single crosses CIG10, CIG25 and CIG45 had higher (81-88%) amylopectin content than others.
