Sixty Simmental crossbred bulls (700±20 lb) were utilized in a study to observe the effects of dietary protein level on rate, efficiency, and composition of gain. Six bulls were designated for slaughter on d 0 to provide an estimate of initial carcass composition and the remaining bulls were assigned to 3 dietary treatments. Corn-corn silage diets (NEg.57 MCal/lb) containing 10, 12, or 14% crude protein (CP) were fed.
