The effect of fattening duration in different rearing systems on slaughter traits of broiler chickens of genotype Redbro

The effect of fattening duration in different rearing systems on slaughter traits of broiler chickens of genotype Redbro

Biotechnology in Animal Husbandry 23(3/4): 67-74

Slow growing chickens of genotype Redbro were reared in two systems to determine the effect of fattening duration on slaughter yields, dressing percentages and shares of main carcass parts. Results revealed that fattening of chickens in coop up to 84 days old had considerable effect on increased slaughter yields such as conventional processing (83.59%), ready to roast (77.22%) and ready to grill (67.17%) when compared to 42 days old (82.21; 74.87 and 65.42%, respectively) chickens.
