The molecular weight of ribosomal ribonucleic acids among the Protostomia

Biological Bulletin (Woods Hole): 1643: 428-432

ISSN/ISBN: 0006-3185

DOI: 10.2307/1541252

The MW of the 2 larger rRNAs (18S and 26S) of 1 deuterostome and 5 protostomes were determined from their electrophoretic mobility. The MW of the smaller (18S) ribosomal RNA was the same in all groups tested, but the MW of the larger ribosomal RNA (26S) was 14% smaller among the protostomes than the corresponding RNA (28S) of the deuterostomes.
