Latest Quaternary tectonic deformation of terraces in the Jiuxi Basin in the western Qilian Mountains, China

Latest Quaternary tectonic deformation of terraces in the Jiuxi Basin in the western Qilian Mountains, China

Xibei Dizhen Xuebao = Northwestern Seismological Journal 20(1): 28-36

The Jiuxi Basin, with several kilometers of Cenozoic deposits, is located in the western Qilianshan Mountains at the junction of the Tibet, Tarim and Alashan blocks. It is one of the regions that are characterized by strongly active folding and faulting with a NW-NWW trend, where surface thrusts, blind thrusts and active folds are the main structural style. Early Quaternary tectonic deformation has continued to the present time and is confirmed by warped and faulted streams after terrace surfaces and tilted flood deposits.
