Agnathan and gnathostome fish microfossils from an Early Devonian site in the St Maughan's Group of South Wales include heterostracans, cephalaspids, dominant thelodont scales including Turinia pagei, nostolepid and gomphonchid acanthodian remains, Nostolepis arctica for example, at least one chondrichthyan with scales called "Nostolepis" robusta, and placoderm plates.
