Controls of sedimentary rock on sandstone-type copper deposits in Chuxiong Basin, Yunnan, China

The sandstone-hosted copper deposits of Cretaceous age in the Chuxiong basin were closely related with the lower coaly formation, the middle cupriferous formation and upper gypsum-salt formation. The grain size of the ore-bearing formations became finer upward in the cross section. The copper mineralization formed in certain range above the unconformable contact. Cupriferous rocks are mainly fine-grained. Mineralization is related with calcic and siliceous cements and also with the total content of cements. Ore bodies formed in the vicinity of oxidizing-reducing interface. There is enough evidence to indicate that diagenesis played important role in copper mineralization.
