The article presents a procedure for evaluating informativeness of various criteria used in forecasting of oil and gas potential of local structures. As criteria controlling oil and gas potential, morphological characteristics of structures themselves such as amplitude, area, intensity, sizes of axis and form of local structures were used. Histograms have been constructed for each of the discussed indices separately for oil and gas and dry structures; main statistical characteristics were determined. Paleostructural criteria are considered to be most informative indices.
