Four triterpenoid saponins from Aster souliei

Four triterpenoid saponins were isolated from the n-butanol extract of Aster souliei by repeated column chromatographies with nonionic polystyrene resin, silica gel and polyamide. Their structures were elucidated to be dipsacoside B (1), foetidissimoside A (2), asteratoidesoside A (3) and scaberoside A(4) (4) on the basis of spectral evidence and chemical methods. Compound I was isolated from the genus, whereas the compounds 2,3 and 4 from Aster souliei for the first time.
