Gneissic alaskite granites of the Northern Baikal region cut enderbites, granulites, and schists of the Nyurundukan Formation. They contain relict hypersthene, and abundant quartz and perthitic feldspar. The investigations showed that the alaskite granites were formed at shallow depths from "dry" granite melt corresponding to quartz-feldspar cotectics at P (sub H2O) nearly equal 0.5 kbar. The granite magma was generated by partial melting of enderbites, which resulted from Si-K metasomatism of mafic granulites during a retrograde metamorphic stage. The granite formation occurred in the Early Paleozoic (483+ or -56 Ma) and was related to accretionary processes in the southern (in modern coordinates) framing of the Siberian Craton.
