Main characteristics and genesis of the migmatitic granitic complex in the Qurugtagh area, Yuli County, Xinjiang

Xinjiang Dizhi = Xinjiang Geology 3(1): 52-62

The migmatitic granitic complex in the Paleoproterozoic Xingel Formation (Xindtagh Group) was studied. It appears in zonal distribution, which is consistent with the regional tectonic line. Within the complex, there are thin beds of marble which show intact bedding and remnant bedded structure. The contact between the marble and migmatitic granite is transitional and no intrusive structure occurs. The lithology and structure of the complex show a typical migmatitic character as represented by typical metasomatic and remnant psammitic texture, pressure structure, rounded psammitolite texture, primary bedding, etc., all of which show that the complex contains para-metamorphic rocks. The result of discriminant analysis also indicates that the complex differs from magmatogenic granite. Trace elements distributed in the various rocks of the complex are similar to those of sedimentary rocks. These features suggest that the complex consists of metamorphic (migmatitic) rocks rather than magmatogenic rocks, and its genesis is related to regional migmatization. Anomalies of gold and rare earth radioactive elements are closely related to migmatization, so this region is a favorable area for searching for gold, rare-earth elements, and wollastonite ore deposits.
